Austrian Army Tarnanzug Neu (TN17) Field Cap – Genuine Issue
Own a piece of modern military history. The Tarnanzug Neu (TN17) is the current-issue camouflage of the Austrian Bundesheer, and due to strict issuance and active use, it is virtually non-existent on the surplus market. Featuring a unique six-color "spots and lines" pattern designed for universal environments, this genuine field cap is a "holy grail" find for collectors and tactical enthusiasts.
The Camo You Aren’t Supposed to Have. Introduced in 2017 by Minister of Defence Hans Peter Doskozil, the Tarnanzug Neu (or TN17) was designed to finally replace the iconic Austrian solid olive green uniforms. Unlike modern digital patterns, the TN17 utilizes a sophisticated six-color blend of spots and lines, providing superior concealment across varied terrain.
Why is it so rare? Because it isn't actually "surplus" yet. The Austrian Armed Forces only produce approximately 3,000 uniforms per year, and the pattern was only first issued to the elite 18th Jäger Battalion in 2019. Most of the Austrian military hasn't even received their kit yet, making this small batch of field caps an accidental miracle for the civilian market.
We found a handful of these genuine TN17 caps tucked away in a shipping container of standard Austrian surplus. We didn't ask questions, and once they’re gone, we likely won’t see them again for years.
